Alphonse Primus

 

With family at his side, Alphonse passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the 7th Heaven Assisted Living Home in Perham. The Mass of Christian Burial for Alphonse Primus was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton. Alphonse John Primus was born to William and Rose (Meyer) Primus on Feb. 26, 1918, in Melrose. He and Hildegard Wessel were united in marriage on May 14, 1946, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Together they raised their family on their farm near Bluffton. He served as the Clerk of Bluffton Township for 48 years, as the Township Fire Warden for 55 years and secretary of the Bluffton Creamery Board of Directors for 18 years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Albert, Alcuin and Urban Primus; and sisters Regina Wessel, Sr. Oranda Primus and Sr. Lynette Primus.

He is survived by his wife, Hildegard, of 7th Heaven Assisted Living in Perham, and formerly of Bluffton; son Harvey of Bluffton; daughter Mary Lou Waldorf of Superior, Wis.; grandchildren Joe Waldorf and Dan (Virginia) Waldorf; great-grandchildren Dylan Waldorf and Hannah Kile; brothers Joe (Catherine) of Melrose and Roman (Claire) of Long Prairie; sisters Betty Mascho of St. Martin and Rosie Schmiesing of Meire Grove; along with his “extra kids” Joe, Eileen, Darlene, Joann, and other nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Tom Ament, Peter VanErp, Robert Roggenkamp, Henry Soenneker, Ralph Schwartz and Rod Goeller. Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Waldorf, Daniel Waldorf, Scott Jahnig, Ian Jahnig, Katie Jahnig, Rocky Benoit, Bailey Benoit and Lindsay Benoit.

Arrangements were with the Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena.
