Additional Hours for District 5 Absentee Voting
Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels reminds voters needing to cast an absentee ballot for the Commissioner District 5 special election primary that the Stearns County Auditor’s Office and the Clerk’s Office at the City of Melrose will be open this Saturday, November 16th, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 for absentee voting. Monday, November 18th is the last day to cast an absentee ballot. The special election for the Commissioner District 5 primary is next week Tuesday, November 19th.
Residents can vote by absentee ballot at the Auditor-Treasurer’s office, located in the Stearns County Administration Building, Room 148, 705 Courthouse Square, downtown St Cloud. Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voters can also cast an absentee ballot at the City of Melrose. With the 5th Commissioner District <http://www.co.stearns.mn.us/Portals/0/docs/Department%20Files/AudTreas/Election/Maps/CommDistricts_2012_2.1.13.pdf> located primarily in the western part of the county, the City of Melrose was added as an absentee ballot location for this election only for the convenience of the voters. In order to cast an absentee ballot, voters MUST meet one of the following requirements:
1) Absence from precinct on Election Day
2) Illness or disability
3) Religious discipline or observance of religious holiday
4) Service as an election judge in another precinct
5) Eligible emergency declared by the governor or quarantine declared by the federal or state government
