Missing Melrose man’s body found

The body of a missing Melrose man has been found and identified as 22-year-old Edgar Martinez Juarez.
Martinez was reported missing on Oct. 28, 2014, by family, but had not been seen since Oct. 20.
His body was found in Melrose around 8 p.m., Sunday, March 15, just off of the Lake Wobegon Trail in the 700 Block of 2nd St. SE.
Martinez’s body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy where it was determined he died of a self-inflicted gun-shot wound to the head.
The family has been notified.

Update: Grandfather dies, child still hospitalized after falling through ice

Douglas County — On Tuesday evening family members became concerned when James Minnerath and his grandson Hayden Minnerath had not returned from riding an Polaris Ranger ATV.  James was celebrating his 50th birthday and had been plowing snow in the neighborhood and riding the ATV on Lake Andrew with grandson Hayden.

 

Family members contacted Brad Brejcha who is a neighbor and retired Sheriff’s Sergeant. Brejcha called the Sheriff’s Office to report the missing parties at 8:47 p.m. Brejcha then walked out onto Lake Andrew and discovered a hole in the ice with ATV tracks leading to the hole. Brejcha reported the discovery to the Sheriff’s Office at 8:54 p.m.
