Sole Mission

Briana Ziemer has collected more than 1,000 pairs of shoes already, and hopes to reach a goal of 10,000.

Briana Ziemer hopes to have 10,000 pairs of shoes in her possession by next March.

No, this 17-year-old Sauk Centre senior-to-be doesn’t have a shoe obsession, but she does have a desire for helping those less fortunate.

Ziemer, the daughter of Krista and Todd Ziemer, is collecting the shoes as part of her Soles4Souls mission trip to Haiti next March. After meeting a friend at a religious retreat, she heard about the mission and instantly became interested in doing her part.

“My friend told me how much they need shoes in Haiti and how excited the kids were when they received them,” she said. “It just made me want to do it.”
