Lillian K. Bromen

Lillian K. “Lollie” Bromen, age 97, of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating and Rev. Tom Mboya concelebrating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Visitation was from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the upper gathering area at church in Sauk Centre.

Jeanne Clarise (Bitz) Wilber

Jeanne Clarise (Bitz) Wilber, age 57, of Melrose, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose.
Jeanne was born Dec. 29, 1958, in Sauk Centre, to Milton and Lorene (Berscheid) Bitz. Jeanne was passionate about family. When she wasn’t taking photos of her grandchildren, she likely could be found giving them cuddles, hugs, kisses or spoiling them with whatever new toy she could find. Jeanne was awed by the beauty in nature and shared photos with both friends and family. She also enjoyed sharing her talents by volunteering for the local history museum and their Facebook page.
Survivors include her son, Shalon (Kate) Wilber of Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren, Jay and Adelane (Laney) Wilber; brothers and sisters, Carole Austing (Don Weissman), Darlene (Albin) Moritz, David (Lorraine) Bitz, Stephen (Lavonne) Bitz, Kevin (Nancy) Bitz, Mary Kay Rhode; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ervin J. Kluver Ervin J. “Erv” Kluver, age 86 of Sauk Centre, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, surrounded by his family at the Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Inurnment followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Sauk Centre.

Aloys F. “Allie” Hoeschen, age 89, of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Tom Mboya officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Ronald Lloyd Kuffel

Ronald Lloyd Kuffel
Ronald Lloyd Kuffel, 81, of Sauk Centre, and formerly of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Sept. 16, 2016, in Sauk Centre following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Ron will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Church Upper Gathering Room prior to the Mass. Rev. Greg Paffel will preside.
Ron was born on November 15, 1934, in Minneapolis, to Mabel Mae Edson and Alexander Peter Kuffel. He had a younger brother, Peter Lee and they grew up in South Minneapolis surrounded by neighbors and schoolmates who later became lifelong friends. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and received an honorable discharge six years later. He was proud of his military service and spoke of it often throughout his long life.

Gerry Thornbloom
Gerry Thornbloom of Sauk Centre passed away on Friday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
On Sept. 26, 1946, a son was born to Gerald I. and Valborg (Brakken) Thornbloom in Long Prairie. He was named Gerald after his father and was the second oldest of five children born to this union. He attended high school in Osakis and graduated with the Class of 1964. Gerry enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served on the Navy Carrier, USS Ranger. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and returned home to Minnesota. He married his sweetheart, Cheryl Johnson, the next year on March 30, 1968, at the Sauk Valley Lutheran Church in rural Osakis. They raised two daughters, Brenda and Jodi. Gerry was hired by the Kraft Corp. working first in Melrose and later at the Albany plant, where he was a supervisor for many years. He retired in 2003. For several years he had worked in the maintenance department at Felling Trailers in Sauk Centre.

Lorraine Eleanor Plantenberg
Lorraine Eleanor Plantenberg, age 68, of Isanti, passed away on Sept. 15, 2016, after a long battle with cancer and MS. She grew up on a dairy farm near Meire Grove, graduated Sauk Centre High School, St. Cloud State University and the University of St. Thomas. She began her career as a teacher at Underwood Elementary and finished her career with 27 years in the St. Francis School District 15. She spent her retirement with family and friends, traveling and enjoying nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mary Yarke, her brother, Jerome Yarke and her nephews, Kevin and Ron Blenker.

Arlene Agnes Arnold, age 93 of Sauk Centre, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio. Arlene had been staying in Ohio with her son, Jim.
Funeral services for Arlene will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre at 11 a.m., viewing at 10 a.m. Pastor Michael P. Carlson will preside. A lunch will follow the service, with burial at Long Bridge Lutheran Cemetery.

Lawrence B. “Larry” Morton

Lawrence B. “Larry” Morton, age 80 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at CentraCare Health in Sauk Centre.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at River of Life Church in Sauk Centre with Pastor Kyle Peterson officiating. Interment was in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls at 2 p.m.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the River of Life Church.

Jerry M. Rooney
Jerry M. Rooney, 81 of Belgrade, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Getty Street Assisted Living in Sauk Centre. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Visitation was 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade where there was a 5:30 Rosary and 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service. Visitation continued on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
