Rhoda Marie Ostendorf

Rhoda Marie Ostendorf, age 76 of Sauk Centre, passed away Feb. 22, 2016.
She was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Little Sauk, the daughter of Everett and Lyda Thompson.
In 1956 she and Fred Ostendorf were married and made their home in Sauk Centre.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Ostendorf; parents; and two brothers, Gene and Richard.
Rhoda is survived by her husband Fred; three children Jeanne (Kurt) Kumlin, Nancy (Mike) Noe and Joseph (Jessica) Ostendorf; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Robert Thompson.
Memorial Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Sauk Centre.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home, St. Paul.

Richard J. “Rich” Kortan

Richard J. “Rich” Kortan, age 92 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Richard Joseph Kortan was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Sauk Centre, to Charles Sr. and Mary (Novak) Kortan. He was united in marriage to Joan Wiener on June 21, 1949, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Richard worked at Sauk Centre Farmers Elevator, City Service Gas Station, and Home Gas/Texgas for 28 years. He then worked at St. Michael’s Hospital for 13 years.

Eugene H. “Gene” Blomgren, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Little Sauk with Rev. Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Selestine “Sally” A. Korte-Power, age 90 of Sauk Centre died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel presiding. Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Marion L. Walker, age 83 of Villard, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Prairie Senior Cottage in Alexandria. Funeral services will at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at Villard United Methodist Church, with Rev. Alexander Victor Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in Glenwood and will resume on Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lake Leven Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Esther J. Hinnenkamp, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jeremy Theis officiating and Rev. Mike Van Sloun concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers were at 4 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Robert P. Peters,
Robert P. “Bob” Peters, age 86 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre with military honors provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Robert Peter Peters was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Belgrade, to Alphonse and Cora (Wiener) Peters. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years. On Sept. 27, 1955, he married Valeria Weber at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. The couple farmed in the Sauk Centre area until 1994, when they retired and moved to town. Bob served on the Land O’ Lakes District Boards, Sauk Centre Creamery Board for 31 years, and the North Fork Insurance Board for 24 years.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre with full military honors.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service at the church. United Veterans Prayer Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Martha E. McIntyre
Martha E. McIntyre, age 97 of Sauk Centre, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Marty Porter will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Martha Emma Heidemann was born April 2, 1918, in the Lyman Prairie area of Raymond Township, Stearns County. She attended school to the eighth grade. Martha married Floyd “Baldy” McIntyre on Feb. 16, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. They moved to a farm in the Gutches Grove area, near Long Prairie, in 1947, where they made their home. Baldy and Martha enjoyed going snowmobiling with friends while they lived on the farm. After Baldy’s retirement in 1980 they moved to Sauk Centre.

Mava R. Barchenger
Mava R. Barchenger, age 100 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A memorial service will be held later this spring with details published in the Sauk Centre Herald.
Mava Ruby Shanahan was born May 10, 1915, in Scott, Saskatchewan, Canada to William and Etta (Wehrhahn) Shanahan. She moved to the United States at an early age. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School, attended Normal Teacher’s Training and St. Cloud State University and taught in rural schools. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Vocational Nursing in Rochester, and was a nurse for 30 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Sauk Centre Seniors.
