Suspected homicide in rural Long Prairie

On Thursday, Aug. 22 at approximately 3:47 p.m., the Todd County Sheriff’s office received a call of a domestic incident at 20184 281st Ave. in Round Prairie Township, approximately six miles east of Long Prairie.

Responding Todd County personnel discovered that Nancy Elaine Williams (58 years of age) was deceased. She appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma.

Williams’ ex-husband, Craig Lamont Williams (46 years of age) of Long Prairie, was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held at the Todd County detention center awaiting formal charges, according to Todd County Sheriff Peter Mikkelson.

The Todd County Sheriff’s office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the incident.

Dan Welle’s and Chrysler fundraiser at Holy Family is Tuesday

Dan Welle’s and Chrysler are teaming up for a Drive for the Kids fundraiser for Holy Family School. The event, where any legal driver age 18 or older can test drive a new Chrysler automobile, is next Tuesday on the west side of Holy Family from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

For every test drive taken during the hours of the fundraiser, Holy Family will earn $10 from Chrysler to be put towards enrichment programs of their choice. Held at the school’s front entrance at 231 Sinclair Lewis Avenue in Sauk Centre, it is open to anyone who would like to come and show their support in a low-pressure, hassle-free environment.

School board meeting is Friday morning

With a number of personnel matters to discuss and act on, the Sauk Centre school board will hold a special meeting on Friday, Aug. 9 at 7 a.m. at the district office board room.

Agenda items include adjustments for an Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) position, a keyboarding position and a physical education position. A fourth teaching position under discussion is in high school math.

The leave of absence request by former assistant principal Cory Larson is also on the agenda, as well as the item "Dean of Students" position.
