McGlore “Mike” H. Orth, age 96, of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Sept. 20, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The Rev. Botzet will officiate with interment following at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

McGlore Henry Orth was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Melrose, to Henry and Esther (Swenson) Orth. He grew up in Sauk Centre with his two sisters. He started working at the young age of 12 to help support the family. On Sept. 2, 1950 he married Alma (Volbert) Orth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple moved to Columbia Heights where they resided for 34 years. In 1984, he retired from the United States Postal Service and moved his family to their lake home in Sauk Centre.

His hobbies were fishing, gardening, playing cards, square dancing and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending high school sporting events to follow his granddaughter’s team and visits with his many great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children and spouses, McGlore “Mick” (Pat) Orth of Ham Lake, Thomas (Mary) Orth of Sauk Centre, and Patricia Peschel of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and sister Helen (Kenneth) Beck of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma; parents, and sister, Darline “Dolly” Hasher.
