James J. “Jim” Abraham, age 77, of Sauk Centre, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away from injuries sustained in an accident at home June 19, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was June 25 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with the Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. Military honors were provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.

Visitation was Tuesday at the church.

James Joseph Abraham was born March 25, 1947, in Minneapolis to John and Marcella (Novak) Abraham. He was united in marriage to Alice Emond July 31, 1969, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Jim worked at Midwest Printing in Fridley until his retirement in 2010. Alice and he retired to their lake home on Sauk Lake in 2013.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed playing all sports, especially softball and basketball. 

Later in life, Jim enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and golfing. Whenever he was not actually doing the things he loved, he was watching someone else do it on television. He had an outgoing personality, he loved joking around with people and had a knack for telling jokes. Jim would start a conversation with anybody about anything.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Alice Abraham of Sauk Centre; children, Paul Abraham of Spring Lake Park and Denise (Jason) Smith of Columbia Heights; mother-in-law, Marilyn Emond of St. Anthony Village; brothers, Mark Abraham of Monticello and Paul (Corrine) Abraham; and sister, Marsha (Gary) Christensen of Fridley.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Dr. Thomas Emond.

Jim’s faith was very important to him. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
