Randolph F. “Randy” Hittle, 69, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Dec. 12, 2023, at the Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria.

A memorial service was held Dec. 18 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with the Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Randolph Franklin Hittle was born Feb. 14, 1954, in Sauk Centre, to Franklin and Rita (Niermann) Hittle. Randy graduated from Sauk Centre High School and furthered his education at Willmar Technical College. He was united in marriage to Joy Gapinski March 28, 1981, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Randy worked at Minnegasco/CenterPoint Energy for nearly 50 years as a Master Technician. He was a sports enthusiast playing football and baseball and earned the nickname “Freight Train” from his teammates. Randy spent countless hours at the local hockey rinks where he served as coach for hockey as well as baseball. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Joy Hittle of Alexandria; children Wendy Kieffer of West Fargo, Benjamin Hittle of Alexandria, Derek Hittle of Benson, Andrew (Gina) Hittle of Carlos, Noah (McKenna) Hittle of Bemidji and Connor Hittle of Millerville; children and their families Linda Bakken, Becky Johnson and Eric Skolness; father Franklin Hittle of Sauk Centre; eight grandchildren Amber, Kelly, Brody, Beau, Leora, Laken, Ryder, and Knox; and brothers Gary (Betsy), Larry (Barb), and Tom (Sonja) Hittle.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother Rita Hittle in 2020.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
